God not only makes extraordinary promises, he also swears to fulfil them. In the Bible, this is called ‘making a covenant’—an unbreakable pledge of faithfulness and loyalty. By making a covenant, God calls us to himself, calls us to trust his promises, calls us to be his friends. To know God as the One who makes promises, is to find the foundation for lasting peace and security.
