  God not only makes extraordinary promises, he also swears to fulfil them. In the Bible, this is called ‘making a covenant’—an unbreakable pledge of faithfulness and loyalty. By making a covenant, God calls us to himself, calls us to trust his promises, calls us to be his friends. To know God as the One who makes promises, is to find the foundation for lasting peace and security.

  When God’s people were afflicted and cried out to him, the Bible says that God heard, God saw, God took notice of them, and God acted. A changed life and a new hope is possible, even for us today. God is in the business of salvation: saving, forgiving, helping, restoring, and rebuilding. To know the God who saves is to experience his forgiving and transforming grace.
